THE GIRL CENTER

Objective

To provide a place of daily developmental activities for girls.
To provide a place of succor for girls fleeing from sexual abuse by family members.

Strategy

The center shall include executive offices, counseling rooms, seminar rooms, library, computer center, skill acquisition center, recreational center and hostels.

The center shall provide counseling, recreational activities, legal aid, vocational training and continual education for girls. There will also be a temporary shelter for abused girls. The counseling shall be taken by women professionals in the areas of medicine, law and psychology. The center shall organize lectures on leadership development and enlightenment programs for boys and men, women and the society at large about the girl child. The center shall also create awareness in the society of the plights of the girl child through media and publications.

THE VOCATIONAL / SKILLS ACQUISITION CENTER

This is inclusive of a talent and hobby development program for girls like music, drama, and writing. The vocational Center shall provide training in catering, decorating, hair dressing, fashion designing, bead making and computer.

THE GYM / RECREATION CENTER

This is a place for rest, relaxation and exercise for girls. Here girls can come, meet, talk, share views and experiences, relieve themselves of bottled up emotions, receive counseling, exercise with fun and enjoyment.

Here they can watch films and have therapy for good living.

SHELTER FOR GIRLS

A home and shelter based project for girls fleeing from or victims of sexual abuse.

A moral based home away from home for girls in school or away from their parents.

Funding

We need =N=35million (about $300,000) per year to run the girl center and other programs. Your gift can help us do it. You can give to us in cash or/and in kind. We will advertise your products in all our programs and include you in our Donor list. We will also give you recognition in a specially organized program once in a year. And most importantly, you gift will change a girl's life.
